| What's happened since Year 12: |
I left at the end of the year and walked straight in to a job at Dimmeys in Richmond (family connections), I worked there for 6mths before I went to work for Dr Nathan Rosenzwieg (Dentist on the corner of Thiele st and Doncaster rd). I left there and went back to Dimmey's this time at the Ringwood store. I was also in the youth group at the St David's church opposite Tunstall square, then I joined Rotaract.
4th of September 1979 I joined the Royal Australian Navy as a WRAN cook. That was also the day I met my wonderful husband. We got married on the 17th of January 1981, I also left the Navy that day (husband's and wives were not posted together) While I was in the Navy I had a nasty fall, it has now caught up with me and I can not work (or walk much).
Michael stayed in the navy for another 22yrs and we traveled all around Australia. We were in Sydney when we were first married, Michael was on the warship HMAS Melbourne. We had 18mths in Sydney then we moved to Perth for 18 weeks, then 12 months in Melbourne (Frankston) were we had Desiree. After that we moved to Darwin for the first time, we had a wonderful 3 yrs here and Shani was born here. Back to Sydney for 3 years with Michael away again on a ship. Then back to Darwin for four years. We then went to Exmouth in WA, that was the worse posting we had, didn't like that place. After 18mths there we came back to wonderful wonderful Darwin, we were living in a navy house in town. We started to look around to find somewhere to buy, we could afford to buy anything in town so we bought 5 acres in Humpty Doo. Michael went back to Sydney and the girls and I stayed here as they were both in High school . Michael and I decided that is was time for him to get out of the Navy. So after 23 years he left the navy and had 2 years of till he found a job at Charles Darwin Uni. After he had been there for awhile I started also as a student. I am now doing fashion studies, I can now design pattern make and sew a dress from scratch. If someone told me when I left school I would love sewing and live in Darwin I would have laughed them to the edge of Doncaster. |
